Udhaar, both ways, and never forgotten

Who owes you, whom you owe, how much and by when — said the way you would say it. When the money comes back, one tap closes it.

Sunny ne 10000 dene hain Sunil 2,000 nahi de paya, parso dega

Each comes back as an udhaar form, filled in as owed to you — the second with the day it is due. Tap Save, and it is kept.

A khata that keeps itself

Udhaar is money that has not moved yet. LekhaJokha keeps it apart from payments, and puts the two together when the money moves.

Say it the way it happened

Either way round — money owed to you, or money you owe — with a last date when you give one. For an udhaar with a person, LekhaJokha fills in the Add udhaar form from your words; you check it and tap Save, and nothing is kept until you do. A missing amount is left for you to fill in; for a bill, it asks.

  • Owed to you and owed by you, kept apart
  • A last date, in your words: parso, next Monday, 15 tareekh
  • “total udhaar kitna hai” — owed to you and what you owe, as plain totals
  • “Sunny ka hisaab” — every payment and open udhaar with one person
Raju ko 5000 udhaar diya Mohan se 12000 ka maal liya, 10 tareekh tak dena hai

One owed to you, one you owe — each comes as its own filled-in form, and gets its own card when you tap Save.

A repayment closes it — when you say so

When a payment comes in from someone with an open udhaar, LekhaJokha asks before it closes anything. Part of it is counted, and the rest stays open.

  • “Close … with this payment?” with Close the due and Keep separate
  • Part paid: “Counted … — … still open.”
  • Undo opens it again

Not yet: closing one by saying “Sunil's udhaar is paid” in words — today it is the tap.

Sunil ne 2000 de diye

Asks to close Sunil's udhaar with this payment.

Never the wrong Rahul

Two people with the same name are asked about, and the money is never counted the wrong way round.

  • “Which Rahul?” with a button for each — and it remembers your last choice
  • “Did you give Suresh ₹2,500, or did Suresh give you?” when the words do not say
  • Until you answer, it is kept but not added to any total
Suresh 2500

Asks which way the money went before it counts it.

What is coming for udhaar

Each says plainly where it stands. No udhaar reminder is sent yet — ask “total udhaar kitna hai” any time to see what is open.

Interest on udhaar

A loan kept with its rate — simple interest each month — and what is owed worked out for the day you ask. Repayments clear the interest first.

Reminders, to you

A week before the date, on the day, then weekly until it is settled — each with a ready message you can forward from your own WhatsApp. LekhaJokha will never message the person who owes you an udhaar.

Keep your khata in the chat.

LekhaJokha is being tested right now with a small group, on a private number. Write to us and we will send you the number the day it opens.

A person reads these, usually the same day.
